One up, the other down indeed. But one thing that works for me is betting on the underdogs and I wished Apple would go down more to buy. Let me give you some examples:
Bet on AMD when everybody jumped on NVIDIA (+150%)
Bet on PayPal when everyone was running from it (+35%)
