Yeah that is pretty nuts unless the debt balance is meant to benefit someone's credit rating or something along those lines. I don't really know how it works but I do really enjoy being completely debt-free. It really is an ease off of one's mind.

Thankfully I had good parenting about avoidance of debt and I followed it. I even paid for all but one of the cars I have had in my life without financing it. My Dad always said "if you don't have the money already for anything other than a house, you cannot afford it."
