When I started to hear about cars offering premium services for optional features that are switched off if you didn't pay your annual fee, I determined that I want as little electronics in my car as possible. The problem with newer cars is that no regular mechanic can actually work on them either.

Someone will continue to fill this void of simpler gasoline powered cars because I don't think I am alone in not actually wanting everywhere that I go to be logged and I certainly don't want the government or anyone else to have the capability to decide whether or not my car will even start based on any criteria that they might determine.

The EV argument is a stupid one until they can make them affordable and the simple reality is that they can not make them affordable so in my mind, it is case closed.
