We, in America, have had a few "Made In America" attempts.

I remember back in the early 90's when there was a big "buy American" push in the auto industry. The Ford Taurus became the best selling car in the USA and there were a lot of people that were regretting this decision 5 years later when they realized that the Taurus was a piece of crap.
