I was exposed to the thought of quality of life before quantity very early, when my mom got very sick and it became clear that she would have to take opioids for the rest of her life to manage the pain. She signed up at a Swiss hospice that would help her go out peacefully whenever she feels like the world has become too clouded to enjoy. Luckily, that hasn't happened yet, and she has found a combination of treatments of all kind to manage the pain.
Back then I thought a lot about that. And came to the conclusion that I preferred quality over quantity.
