Experience they say is the best teacher but most times we do not need to be the one who has gone through a given situation first before we can talk about it or give advice on it. We could learn from people’s experiences and then know what to do and the advice to give to the next generation. It is a known fact that women grow up so fast, our body systems have been designed to grow so quickly.
As a woman in her early twenties, I have grown to learn a lot of things, from people, from books, from movies, and also from my environment. It is okay to say that I am capable of rendering advice to those who are younger and most advice is also important for those who are older. Learning continues no matter the age.
If there is one advice I would give to young women out there is that they should Believe in themselves and follow their passions. It is one thing to believe in yourself as a young woman. Building your self-confidence. It is okay as a young woman to celebrate yourself. Tell yourself positive things every day, it helps in every area as you will feel more motivated to move on and make exploits. Believing in oneself creates a sense of positivity.
Before now, I was always skeptical about things, it is okay to say that I had low self-esteem, most times I have my friends telling me how good I am at some things but because I didn’t believe in myself everything they said just fell on deaf ears. It took a while to work on that and honestly, that has been the best decision of my life. Whatever I set my mind to do, I just say to myself “IB you got this” and it helps. Most times you need yourself to motivate you.
Following your passion and building your career. I love myself as a career woman. Every young lady out there is passionate about something. It is okay to follow your passion even if it is different from what the world sees. Step out of your comfort zone as a young woman and build your dream. It takes a step to make your dreams turn into reality. So as a young woman if there is one advice I would give is to follow your passion and make it worth every bit of it.
Also, another Advice I would give to young women today is to be financially stable. We are in a society where women shouldn’t depend on their partners completely. Most times your partner might not see it as a big deal but in the long run, you will become a burden. Most young women might not have partners to depend on but then they depend on family members and then they are left in distress when those people they depend on disappoint them.
In most societies, young women have been brought up with the mentality that they do not need to be financially stable as all they need is a man to provide for them. But I think we are in a generation where this doesn’t work as one must be able to fend for herself, nobody wants a burden as a partner. So it is good for young women to be financially stable and work hard for themselves.
It is okay to say that as a young woman never be afraid to speak up, no matter the situation, speak up for what you believe in. Always know that every woman is a STAR
