Friendship is an amazing thing. Having the right set of people as friends is everything. They tend to root for you. You all share memories. I am someone who loves genuine friendship. I love it when I see friendship thriving for a long time because I know most times it鈥檚 not easy. Finding the right set of people as friends is quite difficult.

HOW I MAKE FRIENDS
I am an Ambivert, I am not an extrovert or an introvert. I can balance both personalities more like I fall in between. Thank goodness there is a name for us. So I am an ambivert. Some days I will feel like being so loud and jovial while other days I will just want to stay indoors and quiet without talking to anyone. I find it difficult to make friends on some days, while on some days I leave my house and I am building friendships with everyone I see.
I think the days I find it difficult to make friends are the days my introverted side kicks in, I become shy and not ready to hold conversations. Then when I have my extrovert personality all out, I find it easier to make friends. Most times I just have to smile at the next person and then drop a nice compliment, we could get talking, and then 80% of the time we end off as friends. This has happened several times, especially in tertiary institution days.
Going down memory lane, I met one of my close friends on the stairs. We were heading to the laboratory for chemistry practicals. We were in our 100 level then and while we headed to the laboratory, I complimented his shoe and then we got talking, we talked about the admission process and how hectic it was. After we got to the laboratory we were placed in the same group.
I thought afterwards we would go our separate ways but then the next day we saw ourselves during class and that was how our friendship started. It鈥檚 amazing thinking about it now as we are still friends. Whenever I am asked how I met him, and I say on my way to the Chemistry Laboratory, it makes me laugh. Just one compliment and I got myself a friend for life.
MANY OR FEW?
I have a very small circle of friends. People fail to attach labels to their relationships but with me, that is one thing I am cautious about. I try to differentiate who is my friend and who is my ex-classmate or acquaintance. This has made it easier for me. This way I do not expect much from someone whom I see as my acquaintance or colleague.
I have a few friends and I love it. Having few friends makes it easier for me to build a deeper connection. Also, I find it easier to maintain and nurture this friendship as I have few people to focus on. Having fewer friends has saved me a lot from certain situations. I will always choose a small circle of friends rather than having so many friends.
