Hello hivers and coffe lovers . How are you all doing today?
You are welcome to my blog
Sometimes in life we are faced with situations that seem like a crossroad. These situations tend to elicit various emotions from us.
We are now faced with how to react. If one were to react a certain way, people would say one is cruel and inhumane and on the flip side, if one were to react in the opposite way, then again people would say one is spineless and weak.
This was the situation I found myself in a week ago. I'm grateful for this week's coffee prompt that affords me the avenue to share my experience and the moment of change
It happened a week ago at my place of work that a colleague had laid accussations against me, unbeknownst to me.
I was diligently working, doing what I know how to do best which is imparting knowledge and educating minds, whereas a gossip grapevine had already started.
I got to know from another colleague and it was after school hours when majority of the staff had gone home.
I was livid because I have done nothing but be kind to this colleague that told lies against me. I will cal her Miss P (not her real initials).
One thing I don't like is to be lied against or falsely accused. It hurts me so much. I believe in asking questions for what is unknown and getting the facts rather than jumping to conclusions about a matter.
I went home still in my anger mode and I related the issue with my Nana (granny) to seek her support on what i would do rather than her counsel but I ended up getting the latter.
Nana stared at me straight in the eyes and asked me "Becky can you let go and forgive Miss P?
"But Nana she realy hurt me .. I will maybe after I confront her on this" I protested.
"Oh dear that's not what I meant...she continued. I want you to forgive her so that you can live free. Forgiveness is not for the other person, irs foe you...can you do this?" Nana asked me.
To end the discussion, i hesistantly said yes but deep down I was determined to confront her the next day and clear my name.
Morning came and I quickly prepared myself for the royal rumble that would take place, hahaha. Nana with her wisdom made this statement before I walked out the door..
If something said is true, don't be angry. If something said is untrue then you definitely should not be angry, as time reveals all things.
I hummed a thank you Nana and left for work not really sure I understood my Nana's words. Since i was early, I decided to partake in my *morning rituals *. I brought out my drinking apparatus with my instant coffee and relished the ever amazing fragrance of this elixir as it filled my nostrils.
"Nothing like a hot cup of coffee to get my day going" I said to myself. I had already planned how everything would play out in my head and I felt smug with my plans but as I took a sip of my coffee, all my plans fell like a pack of cards.
Nana's words began to reverberate in my heart and I gleaned truths from her words. I realized that people's opinion don't really matter as long as I stay true to myself.
With every sip, I gained clarity of mind and my anger dissipated. I now understood that as one grows older, one does not fight every battle, as not all battles are worth it.
Now I get your point Nana I said inwardly as I took more sips of my coffe, grateful for the calming effects it gave me all anger vanishing , a renewed outlook dawning.
Coffee never tasted better that day😊
Plus I had a big smile on my face to prove it.
I didn't confront Miss P, I took the higher road by forgiving her even if she did not apologize.
This is my response to the second prompt for the #coffeecontest in commemoration of the international coffee day.
