I am currently out of states and enjoying my time with my family and friends in Korea.
But, I wanted to share one of my day in NYC!

벌써 10시 03분이네요.
네 저는 늦었습니다. (그래서 일어났을 때 사진이 없네요 :D)
하루는 이렇게 시작합니다.
이제는 별로 심각한 얘기는 아니지만 이때쯤에 늦어서 응급실에 실려간 적도 있죠..
너무 뛰어서 교실가서 쓰러진…
그래서 1만불 (천만원) 넘게 병원비로 나와서 열심히 해결했던 기억이 있네요. 하하하 ;)
It’s already 10:03 AM.
Yes. I was late for this class (That’s why my day is starting at 10:03 AM :D)
Tuesday’s always started this way.
Actually, weeks ago, I fell down on the ground due to running too hard for class.
I almost spent about 10,000 dollars for the ambulance service and medical fee.
(thank God for helping me reduce the fee.. :))
여튼 저는 이상하게 항상 스케줄이 한쪽으로 밀려있는 현상이 많았어요.
아무래도 금요일날 공강을 넣기위한 발악이었던 것 같아요.
그래서 이 날은 수업이 하나밖에 없었네요.
바로바로 페인팅 시간! 꺄!
My schedule was always pushed to one side.
I thought it was a crime to have a class on Friday.
Therefore,I managed to put class between monday thru thursday.
This day I had only one class, which is the painting class.
Time to PAINT!
페인트를보니 오일 페인트를 배우던 시기였네요.
I think I was learning how to paint with oil paints.
중간 중간 바깥 풍경을 보면서 하는게 좋았던 것 같아요. 이 길거리는 역사가 가득한 길이거든요.
In between classes, I loved the view outside of my classroom.
Also, this street was full of history.
스투이븨산트(!) 길을 소개해볼께요
창밖으로 보이던 이 길을 잠깐 소개해드리자면,
이 길의 이름은 Stuyvesant Street 입니다. (스투이븨산트? 라고 발음합니다.. 하하)
뉴욕에서 제일 오래된 길중 하나입니다.
저 표지판처럼 ㄴ 모양으로 꺽어진 길이 아니고요. 대각선으로 꺾인 길입니다.
정확히 29도(!) 꺾어져있고, 집들이 매우작아서. 유일하게 뉴욕에서 작은 집들이 있데요.
심지어 주소지를 보면 00 Stuyvesant 도 있고 00 ½ stuyvesant 도 있답니다.
½을 주소지로 쓰고 있습니다.
The street outside of the window is called Stuyvesant Street.
One of the oldest streets in New York City.
The street is not bent like the sign in the photo above. It is more like a diagonal-lined road.
Also, the street is exactly 29 degrees(!) bent and the houses are very small.
This street has the smallest houses in the NYC.
Moreover, if you look at the address, there are 00 Stuyvesant and 00 ½ stuyvesant.
They use ½ to indicate the exact address.
그리고 이 길의 끝에 있는 교회는,
이 길이 생겨났을때부터 있었던 아주 오래된 교회죠.
At the end of the road, there is this church called, St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery.
This church was founded when this road happened to used by many people.
역사적인 건물인지라 24시간 열려 있는 것은 아니지만,
정해진 시간에는 안에 들어가서 사진도 찍고 놀 수 있답니다.
입장료도 없고 심지어 매주 예배도 드리는 그런 교회더라고요.
Even though this is a historical building, people are always allowed during their opening hours.
In between those hours, you can freely go inside and take pictures.
Also, people around the church still worship every week in this building.
여튼 다시 돌아가서 수업이 끝났으니 부랴부랴 나갑니다.
Well, it’s time to leave.
역시 엘리베이터는 저의 인내심을 테스트하니
걸어 내려가도록 합니다.
여긴 정확히 4층이니 갈길이 머네요.
The elevator always tests my patience.
I need to walk down stairs.
My class was on the 4th floor, so I need to get going.
흔들렸지만 오랜역사의 학교건물을 구경할 수 있습니다.

후다닥 내려갑니다.
여담이지만 저 뉴발란스 운동화. 이젠 어디있을까요..
버렸는지.. 어디다 놓고온건지 기억이 안나네요. 하하하
I am running down to the first floor.
I don’t quite remember where that New Balance sneaker went to.. ..
헛둘 헛둘.
One Two One Two
아까 말씀드린 스투이븨산트 길을 걸어올라갑니다.
사실 매우 유명한 길이지만..
파일럿 드라마촬영도 많이하는 것 같지만
매우 짧은 29도로 꺾어진 길이므로 구경할 건 없습니다.
After class, I have to walk on the Stuyvesant Street.
This street is very famous for being old but it’s actually has nothing special.
It’s just 29 degree bent, short, and old street. ;)
가다보니 바나나 인형이 보이네요.
바나나 인형은 옆건물에 항상 있는 인형이에요.
한번 뉴욕 가시게 되면 꼭 찾아보세요~
전장담합니다. 꼭 보실거라고 ㅎㅎ
If you walk straight you can see this banana doll.
It’s always there right next to the window.
If you happen to visit New York City, try finding this doll.
I am 100% sure that you will find this doll on the street.
자 이제 12시 32분 입니다. 일을 가야하지만,
잠시 뉴욕 길거리 좀 구경해볼까요~
Now it’s 12:32PM. I need to go to work.
Before I get going, let’s look around the city~
왜 이렇게 걸어다녔는지 모르겠지만
반대쪽 건물에 있는 미술품까지 찍었네요…
참고로 Jeff Koons 작품입니다~ 작품명은 모르겠지만

아까 제프쿤 작품찍고 돌아왔나봅니다.
여긴 축구시즌 야구시즌 모두 인기많은 펍이었어요.
지금은 아마 저 맥주그림이 아닐것 같지만
이때는 맥주와 우주인이 있네요.
맥주한잔~ 못하던..시절… 만21살이전이라…
I walked all the way to take a picture of the artwork.
This pub is always busy on the sport’s seasons.
I think there will have different drawings on that wall,
But at that time, it has beer with astronauts
I couldn’t drink at that time because I was under 21.
자이제 지하철을 타고…….
I need take a subway…..

버스를 탑니다.
날씨가 꾸리꾸리하고 추워보이는걸 보니 겨울이었네요.
I need to take a bus.
I think this was during winter because people are wearing coats.
일단 할머님 먼저 타시는거 기다리고..
(미국의 버스들은 이런분들을위해 버스가 내려앉더라고요. 그래서
할아버님 할머님들이 더편하게 타실 수 있는 환경이 있었습니다!)
Waiting for this nanny to take the bus.
(NY’s buses are always nice to have this kind service for elders. They lean against to the ground to help the elders take the bus much more comfortably.)

자이제 한 30분 타고 갑니다.
(가까운 거리지만 걷기에는 먼.. 그렇지만 직선코스가 절대로 없는 뉴욕의 교통상황입니다.)
Now I need to take this bus for 30 minutes.
(It’s pretty far to walk but there is nothing but the bus to get to my working place.)

미국의 공립학교들은 대부분 시설이 좋아보이지는 않습니다.
그렇다고 다찍기에는 뭔가 문제가 될 것 같아 계단과 전체적인 모습만 올리도록 하겠습니다:)
일단 공포의 계단을 또올라갑니다.
제 기억으로는 5층까지 올라가야하는 것 같아요.
NYC’s public school doesn’t have a pleasant facility.
Also, I think I am not allowed take any of those students so I will show only some parts of the school :)
When I go inside the building. I need to go up to the 5th floor.
헥헥..도착했어요.. 너무 힘들어요 엉엉
...I have arrived.. So Tired that this photo seems blurry to me.
일단 숙제들을 정리합니다.
My job is organizing the homework.
체육시간인 것 같네요.
강당으로 내려왔습니다.
(이때 이렇게 힘든데도 살은 빠진적이 없었습니다 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ)
I think this was during gym time.
(It was really tiring, but I never succeeded in my diet hahaha)
그러고 이때는 집으로 귀가하기 전이므로 모두들 벽에다가 책가방을 던지고
자기가 하고싶은 활동들을 합니다.
(주로 공놀이, 책읽기, 등등을 했던 것 같아요)
전 그래서 책을 함께 읽어주거나 어려운 수학문제들을 도와줬습니다.
Before we go home, we stay in the gym.
Children’s put their backpacks on the wall and do activities they like.
(Usually, they play with balls, read books, and do homework)
My another job is to help them read books and their math problems.
자 이제 즐거운 퇴근시간 입니다.
15시 35분입니다.
이야! 신난다!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Time to go home!

다시 버스를 기다립니다.
역시 뉴욕의 버스들은 제시간에 오는 적이 없습니다.
형편없죠~ 그렇지만 제 기숙사에서 직통교통은 이것 밖에 없었습니다.
(가끔 걷기도하지만 이날은 이상하게 걷기 싫더라고요 ㅋㅋ)
Waiting for the bus to go back to my dorm.
Buses are always not on time.
But, I have no choice but taking this bus.
(I can walk, but I wasn’t in a mood for walking)
확실히 돌아가는 편이니 사람들이 없네요.
신나게 내부를 촬영했습니다.
No one was in the bus, so I took photos with excitement.
여러 비상사태를 대비해 창문을 바로 열수 있게 해놓았어요.
그리고 휠체어를 타신분들을 위한 안전벨트입니다.
신기하죠?
In case of emergencies, they made this red lever to make people easily open the window.
Right next to the lever, it has seat belts for disabled people.
Isn’t it amazing?
그 대신 조금 뒤쳐지는 뉴욕의 문물(?)이 있다면.
여기 노란줄 보이세요?
이걸 밑으로 잡아당기면 우리나라의 알림버튼 같은 것이 되는 것이에요.
기사님 저내려요의 마음을 가득담아 잡아내리면 돼요.
(참고로 내릴 때는 똑같이 뒷문으로 내리면 되는데요. 이게 자동으로 열리는 형식이아니라
기사님이 해제버튼을 눌러주시면 그다음에 우리가가볍게 밀면 열리는 형식이에요. 조금 독특하죠?)
One thing is very different with Korea’s bus.
Do you see that yellow rope hanging right next to the window?
That’s the rope for the bus driver.
When you pull down that rope, you are letting the bus driver know that you are getting off at the next stop.
(FYI. Korea’s buses has a button that you can press down to alert the bus driver)
여튼 방에 도착했습니다.
제기숙사 방입니다.
기억들이 새록새록 나네요.
Finally I am back to my dorm.
It’s really nice to have a great memory with this dorm.
저는 소화가 안될때 탄산수기계는 없으니 사먹었습니다.
소화불량에는 약보다 물이죠. 근데 옆에 안경이있네요.
저물건 잘잃어버리나봐요. 이안경 어디로갔지?ㅠㅠ
Whenever I feel stomachache, I usually drink sparkling water.
I think sparkling waters are better than medicines to consume.
There is this glasses behind, I don’t remember where that went...
무수비를 해먹습니다. (이것 또한 무스비)
역시 스팸과 밥 그리고 마요네즈는 좋은 식단이에요
자취생은 늘 귀찮아요. 해먹기..
I am so hungry because I skipped my lunch.
I made this MUSUBI!
It’s always right to have spam, rice, and mayo for meal.
역시 밥먹을 때는 아무거나 틀어서 봅니다.
이때는 크리스마스가 지났을 때인데
귀찮아서 안 내렸어요.
크리스마스 분위기 나니 좋네요~~~
When you are eating alone it’s always right to have some videos on your laptop.
This days was after Christmas and I still have this Christmas decoration on my wall.
I was too lazy to clean this wall after the Christmas.
Even though it was February at that time(!), it’s still nice to feel Christmas mood :D
