This post has been a long time in the making, 39 years to be exact, as it began all the way back in 1984.
It was the year the Olympics were held in Los Angeles, China and Hong Kong agreed that 1997 would be the year Hong Kong would revert to China, Indira Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India, was assassinated, a huge coal miners strike occurred in England, there was famine in Ethiopia and the song, do they know it's Christmas was recorded to raise awareness (and funds) for it. Ray Croc, of McDonald's fame, died as did singer Marvin Gaye (and many millions of others of course) but Katy Perry, Scarlett Johansson, Annabelle Wallis (love this actress) and many millions of others were born to balance the scales.
But that's not all that happened in 1984...some music was made and considering this is a music post, let's get into my three selections from 1984. These aren't necessarily favourites, just some I remember liking back then when I was a little girl in 1984.

This is a catchy song with a really nice video that combines the real world with drawn images that come to life cartoon-style. I remember thinking it was wonderful and secretly hoped the man of my dreams would come to life and take me away...As it turns out, he did...but he was real to start with. Take on me
I don't know how many people dressed like this artist back in the 80's and beyond however I'd say a lot. I really liked this song, it just feels nice. If I'm totally honest I still really like the song, although today is the first time I've listened to it in years. Borderline
Lastly is this classic by one of the most influential, and hard working, artists of his time. It was featured in the movie, Purple Rain and is one of those timeless songs I'm happy to listen to even now, years later. When doves cry
I enjoyed putting this little post together, listening to some music from way back when and yes, I will stick my hand up and admit that I fell into a rabbit hole that took me back to a lot of 1980's music. I didn't mind though, it was fun.
