I hardly noticed it was the weekend so busy have I been. With work and personal commitments I almost let the fact it was Friday slip by, but it's here and the weekend will follow, not that it'll be all that different for me.
We've had a very tumultuous two weeks since Christmas as my mother, who is terminally ill, had complications that caused some chaos in our lives. We managed, somehow...hmm, actually I know how we managed, my partner and I did it together, however it really was difficult, stressful and complicated. In between, we were working and doing all the other things we are obligated to do as well.
Now the weekend is here it's more of the same as my mother is still quite ill; is it wrong of me to think I'd rather be doing something else? Maybe, but it's the truth This weekend I'd rather be...

Ok, not in the image, but in the place you see across the water, a cabin my guy and I rented a while back in what could only be described as an incredibly beautiful and serene location. We had ocean vistas from huge picture-windows in every room, a beautiful beach to walk on, the sunsets were spectacular and we swam every day. We did a grand total of nothing else for five days, except indulge in each other's company, the scenery, solitude, quiet and the tasty food we prepared for ourselves. We did a few other things too, but that's not something I'll write about here.
We had late nights and later mornings, ate our meals on the deck listening to the birdsong, swung in hammocks as the breeze touched our faces, listened to music, bathed in the water in the late evening and I even forgot my bikini a few times as well - My guy didn't mind. It was a perfect five days and this weekend...that's where I wish I was and what I wish I was doing.
My mum needs me here, and if I'm totally honest I need to be here for her because I want to be, she deserves that and I want to spend as much time with her as I can. That doesn't mean I can't remember experiences like I mention about though, they make me happy and help me deal with the difficult situation a little better.
