Last weekend, my partner and I were placed in an uncomfortable situation in which a difficult decision needed to be made, one of those, one way or the other, decisions that depending upon which way we went would come with a degree of finality. It would draw a line through a relationship we'd thought would endure and whilst that was ok with me, I knew my guy would struggle to some extent as he had had a longstanding relationship with that individual.

My guy talked it through with me and we went back and forth over the events and situation in its entirety and, though we sought other solutions, always came back to drawing that line and moving on, leaving the situation and person behind; unfortunately that person's actions left no other viable option.
The situation reminded me of a quote I read from a man called James Joyce which goes, "men are governed by lines of intellect - women: by curves of emotion."
The quote is a reminder that men and women, despite both being human and often having the same destination or result in mind, arrive there in different ways.
It was this which stuck with me, the straight lines, curved lines, reading between the lines, crossing lines and blurred lines, that human beings create or must deal with, that made me want to do my music post around the theme of lines.
Below are three songs I picked out all with lines in the title. They are all nice I think, and one is a little naughty, but they say lines are meant to be crossed don't they?
