Its a bit of a fuzzy calculation though, as it only focuses on you commuting to work. But if you use public transportation - do you get rid of the car? I suppose not. So actually you are only saving certain elements of your expenses, like the petrol used for commuting, tyre wear and so on. While other elements just stay the same, like insurance and servicing.
And you have to pay AUS$ 55 to keep your license? Thats scandalous! Here in Germany you make your licence once (which is admittedly very expensive, due to the high cost for the driving school) but then you have it for life without further cost.
