This was not minted by the East India Company. The East India Company existed between 1600 and 1874. It was a semi-governmental institution of Britain, that single handedly controlled the trade and de facto ruled over Britains overseas colonies. It had its own armies, war ships and hundreds of cargo ships and all. Basically, the guys for the dirty work.
I'm not sure who minted this coin. Since it has the official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on it, it must have been issued by a Commonwealth state. Papua New Guinea? New Zealand? Something like that.
Can`t read all of it on the photo. What ever it is, its a ounce of silver, thats what counts. And its just closing at $22 for the weekend - so you done well with your purchase.
