Well, don't shoot too precisely, then the targets last longer. :)

Because it is rather baffling how always hitting the same spot can destroy just about everything. When I was younger (and had good eye sight) I was in a army .22 competition shooting club. We had our range in an attik and the wall behind the targets was clad with a big 1/4 inch steel plate. And despite using only .22lr with soft bullets, they worked their way through the steel after a few years - because the target were always pinned in the same places, and the 8/9/10 spots that we usually hit were only the size of a dime. So 1 bullet did not even make much od a mark - but thousands on the same spot chewed a little hole into the steel. We were quite surprised - and had to stop using the range for a while, until it was repaired.
