Nice work! Its always a nice feeling to sit at a fire place, its different to modern heatings somehow. But a bit messy also, as you soon find out. And a little dangerous, if you are not careful. A last tip in that context: don't ever try to burn old chipboard, just because you got it for free somewhere. I did this once, and it got really scary. The fire started roaring like a rocket motor, and the oven and pipe were glowing deep red. Thank God nothing cracked or caught fire.
I have used ovens for about 25 years, however mainly burning coal. That is more expensive but also more efficient, and the fire keeps burning over night - rather important if its your only way to heat the house. It can be pretty annoying to get up in the morning, its freezing cold in the house, and you have to start the fire before breakfast. :)
