I'm not so sure that there wasn't any commando actions like that. Not with the objective to kill Hitler or stuff like that, as movies like to show it, but with the goal to cause chaos behind enemy lines. The Germans at least did this during the Ardennes offensive, wearing American uniforms. It is something of a suizide mission, since the enemy is entitled to shoot you on the spot as a spy, if you get caught wearing a enemy uniform.
