Hey bro,
Howz it going. I love when you make posts like these. They always trigger my thoughts. It happened again bro. I started responding to your post and realized I'm ranting too. Didn't finish but I thought that I should stop.
Being financially free is a good goal. Reading your post now I wonder what does freedom mean.
If freedom is as it is defined above then with the exception of those blogging from their jail cells, most people on hive are probably already free(I could be wrong here).
But what is financial freedom?
If this definition of financial freedom is accurate then part of what limits us from getting there could be our desires for ourselves and our families. Lol
Don't get me wrong I want the best for my family as much as any other person. But we may be wondering how much is enough?
It occurred to me that, conceptually anyway, the man who desires less may in fact need less in savings and investments to reach desired level of comfort for himself and his family. (Smaller house, one eco friendly family sized car, one annual trip abroad..etc.)
Which leads me to my next question which is what is a reasonable level of comfort for the average person with and without a family?
More specifically what does that desire list look like?
Is it made up of things, experiences, values, good health, positive relationships,...
Finally, is financial freedom the only legitimate source of the things on our desire list?
(It could very well be)
