Anything is possible. Although it's a 20 trillion Market Cap and cultures who value gold like China and India won't subscribe to your maximalist view. So I don't think Gold will be worthless per say. Farmers 100 years ago still valued gold for trade or currency. I think 12,000 years of history validates this and this time isn't really any different.
