Welcome back splinterfam!
This week started like many other weeks. I thought I would not spend too much time expanding the Land Manager.
I had a few things in mind already, mostly some visual improvements and smaller additions. Then requests from the community came in and, as often happens, the plan quickly changed. 😂
I really enjoyed joining the latest stream from @ourfadedglory
@dafiz and
@jovak (Gathering The Magic). It is fun to share my project, but also just to talk Splinterlands with everyone. We really have a great community in my opinion.
A big thanks as well to @warrentrx for coming in with some “small” ideas to improve the site. The first requests were implemented pretty quickly, but one thing led to another and suddenly this became a much bigger update than expected.

💬 Ideas and feature requests are always welcome. No promises but I will take a look and try my best.
First up was a request from @ourfadedglory.
When selecting workers for production, the card filters are now remembered. This was already somewhere on my todo list, but much lower down. It is a very understandable quality of life feature though. If you keep looking for similar workers, you should not have to rebuild the same filters every time.
The saved filters are scoped to where you use them, so filters for one part of the Land Manager do not mess with another part. There is also a Reset button if you want to go back to the default settings.
@warrentrx asked for the last time a card was played to be visible in the worker selection. The data was already there, so this was an easy one to add. You can now sort on the new Last Played column when choosing workers.
A few more production improvements also made it in:
Another good catch from @warrentrx was the Net DEC per hour value on Castle and Keep plots.
I knew this part needed attention at some point, because the displayed value was not really a per hour number. It was based on the current tax vault amount minus grain harvest flat fee. That can look very high when taxes have been sitting there for a while, but it does not tell you what the plot is actually earning per hour.
This is now corrected.
The Production tab now uses the same shared calculation as the planner. It calculates the captured tax per hour based on production in the region or tract, the tax rate, capture rate and grain upkeep.
There is also a warning icon next to the value. It is still an estimate, because it depends on the relevant plots in that region or tract actually being harvested by their owners. I think that is much more useful than showing a collected total as if it was an hourly rate.
I originally only wanted to update the visuals in the Today panel. This panel shows the actions you performed through the site that day.
Of course, that turned into more work than expected. 😂
Totem fragments found from Mythic harvests now show the correct fragment artwork and rarity directly on the deed that found them.
Labor’s Luck cards received during harvests now also show their card artwork with the correct foil and level. You can hover over them for a larger preview.
I also fixed an issue where fragment results could show as “not found” even when a fragment was actually received. The Today panel now reads the confirmed transaction result, instead of relying on the day log before the outcome was known.
Behind the scenes, the Today panel was split into smaller components as well. This should make it easier for me to maintain and improve it in future updates.

The biggest rabbit hole this week was Top Up Pools.
I found a bug that could happen after the Land Manager swapped resources to fund a pool deposit. In some cases, the swap could settle for slightly less than expected because of slippage or a changing pool ratio. The next deposit could then try to add resources that were not actually available yet, resulting in an on chain “not enough resource to pool” error.
That gave me a proper headache once I noticed it, but it needed fixing.
Top Up Pools now refreshes the relevant resource balances after a funding swap. If a resource is still short, it will be skipped with a warning instead of broadcasting a transaction that would fail.
I also added a small 0.5% output headroom to funding swaps. This means the swap aims to receive a tiny bit more than the exact target. Small market movement between planning and broadcasting should no longer cause an unnecessary skipped deposit.
If the final difference is still larger than that margin, the resource is skipped safely. If it is only a tiny shortfall, the amount that actually settled will be deposited instead.
Also, when one resource is swapped into multiple different resources in the same region, the Today panel will now show separate log rows. Previously those actions could merge into one confusing entry.
While working on the Today panel, I also ended up refactoring number formatting across the whole application.
Previously, many places used the browser or server locale automatically. That could lead to inconsistent formatting, especially for users outside an en_US locale. For example, one part of the page could show 1.234,5 while another showed 1,234.5.
All number formatting is now pinned to en_US formatting throughout the application. Dates are unchanged.
Hopefully everything now looks much more consistent. If you notice a number somewhere that still looks different, please let me know. There were a lot of places to check, so I may have missed one.
What started as a few small requests and a visual update turned into a full week of improvements, fixes and refactoring. That is often how these updates go, but I am happy with where it ended up.
As always, thank you to everyone sharing feedback, reporting issues and throwing ideas at me. Every request helps me see the tool from a different perspective and makes the Land Manager better for everyone.
Please always check your planned and completed actions, especially when moving larger amounts of resources. I test as much as possible, but Splinterlands land has many situations that are hard to reproduce with one account.
See you in the next update!
