The Heckon..
I have about 10 minutes of time and really felt like posting something this morning before getting into a lot we have planned for today. I jumped on line with a completely different idea of what to write, and was quickly redirected after seeing one of those "Memory's" pop up on my phone. I don't know if it's just iPhone users or that is also something Android phones do? Either way, here I am, looking at this memory and remembering the day.
It was a nice warm day in September, and we met up with my parents and my brother along with his very pregnant wife, in Cape May, New Jersey. Just as you enter Cape May, there is a small place on your left called Schellengers Landing. Most of the tourist had gone and left the island, allowing for easy travel and availability to eat out (if anyone remembers what that is like) without long lines and waits. It was rather nice.
We had a nice dinner and then strolled along the water, where it would be considered more bay like. The area is really just a fishing marina with a few restaurants mostly serving fresh seafood and what not. We had a good meal, nice conversation about the baby to come and I was able to snap off a few shots along the water, one being the oyster boat above, called the Heckon.
I tried my hardest to locate some of those other pictures, but no such luck.. I have them on a drive and one day I will find them and create a better story. But for now, Sepia Saturday will have to be enjoyed with a single picture.
"They" say a picture is worth a thousand words. I hope their right.
Thank you for swinging by my blog and checking out the post. Have a great day!
Some of us.. Molly in particular.. want nothing to do with boats.

About Me ~ The Artist
My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.
Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.
For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.
