Happy Easter Sunday To All ..
It’ Sunday and It’s Easter.. And if you are celebrating, enjoy your day with your family and friends. Thinking back on all the Easters that have passed a few things come to mind, (in addition to the religious aspects of the day) including but not limited to hunting Easter baskets, chocolate, bunnies, colored eggs, and of course, flowers. After all flowers are a sign of spring! Warmer weather and relaxing times ahead.… I Hope .. the relaxing part. Lol.
It Wasn’t To Long Ago ..
February 23 to be exact, when we noticed that our frangipani was creating a bloom. It has been quite a few years since it bloomed last, so we were pretty excited about what was the come. The last time it bloomed was the year pepper had died. It actually bloomed just a few months before he passed. In an earlier post, I mentioned a friend of ours who gave us this frangipani. She just passed away this winter, and so we see it as a sign that she is looking down on us and giving us these beautiful flowers once more.
February 23, the start of the bloom…
Things kind of took off from there… The bloom stem grew quickly, and before we knew it, flowers were beginning to open. It seemed like the first one took forever, but after that one after another was opening .. day after day.
This morning I took a few updated photos … Not every bud is open, but the majority are. Now that it’s in full bloom, the flowers will last a couple of weeks, then fall off and it will continue to open new blooms for about a month. Then all the excitement will be over until the next time.
I stuck my hand in this shot so you can see the actual size of this mass of blooms. It’s quite large, and it surprises me that the stem has such strength holding up all of these flowers. I was looking at it the other day and thinking that that’s a pretty strong plant to be able to hold that stem to itself without snapping off.
Take a look at the backside of the end of the bloom stem… You’ll notice there are several more buds, waiting to mature and open when the time is right. We are going to get a lot more flowers before all said and done. Our job at this point is to keep her happy so she doesn’t decide to drop the whole stem early.
The first flower fell off a few days ago… It was also the first to have opened so it was expected. It lasted a couple of weeks and fell off. It’s always a sad moment when you see the flower on the floor, quickly remember how you appreciated the beauty while it lasted.
On another note… The branching that is going to happen, that I mentioned on my last post, it’s becoming more visibly evident. If you take a close look, you can see the division occurring on either side of the bloom stem.
This is pretty exciting because it’s the first time this plant will have branched off.. I’m very curious to see how much growth is will put on in one growing season. Moving the plant outdoors into the summer warmth will help tremendously with its growth. It was so happy last year out on our new patio in the summer heat. Once nighttime temperature stabilize a little bit, I will move it outdoors and back to its happy place.
