This month we were busy with enhancing smart contracts so they could support upcoming features listed in our updated roadmap. The next major thing to take our time was testing new feature which is almost ready to go live - Merchants Approval.
Prior to filling BCShop.io catalogues with offers of goods and services we should gather more information about persons and companies willing to use our platform publicly. That’s why we are adding approval procedure for merchants.
It is not necessary for everybody, but if you want to see you services in our catalogues (another feature to come soon) you should complete the approval procedure.
It starts in the new page called ‘My Company’. Its button is located right after the Dashboard button in the upper menu
If you haven’t requested approval yet, you’ll probably see something like this - a brief description of what we are doing here.
Press the button and fill in a simple form so we could know who you are and what services you provide. Please note that it is possible not only to choose existing categories for your offers but to create any new categories you may find useful.
After you send the request, just wait until we check it and either grant or deny your approval. It is also possible that you’ll be requested to provide some additional information.
If you wish you can change or even delete your request later. Also if any additional information is requested its details will be displayed here as well.
After you receive the approval, you can add selected categories to both your existing and new offers.
Moreover, customers that want to purchase your service, will see information about your company on the product’s page.
So, there are lots of reasons to participate in upcoming Merchants Approval Program. Join us.
We have many updates to come in next months so underlying smart contracts that are responsible for our business logic should have been updated accordingly. While most of them needed only minor fixes: a method here, new parameter there; some contracts were redesigned in a huge way: to introduce new storage or support a different interface.
Here are some of major changes that should be reflected in our blockchain layer:
New affiliate system requires storage of affiliate-merchant relations and procedure of rewarding affiliate with a part of base fee.
Custom escrow system requires storage of escrow information and escrow-product relations, as well as procedure of rewarding an escrow with his own fee.

3.1. Ability for merchant to revoke an escrow-protected purchase before customer complains
3.2. Ability for customer to confirm that product or service was delivered. It allows merchant to claim his profit without waiting until escrow protection elapses.
The next thing that needs changes after smart contract update is the API server that connects website with the Ethereum smart contracts. It should support both versions of smart contracts: updated - for the new functions and legacy - for old transactions. That way we can be sure that all features of BCShop.io work as planned - both with old and future records.
