For some people especially when it comes to money, they behave like something is missing from their head.
Someone gifts you money and right there in their presence as the money enters your hand, before even expressing gratitude, you've started counting the money. This is really discourteous and embarrassing!
If you're being paid for services rendered or goods purchased, then you can rightly count your money to be sure it is complete as agreed.
Some don't acknowledge credit alerts of money gifted to them. Some of those who require "2k urgently" belong here. And when you reach out after long hours to be sure they got it, you will hear wonderful tales of how phone entered flight mode during lock down. Not once, not twice but repeatedly.
Some take it a notch higher by saying whatever they received isn't enough but they'll manage. That is their own way of showing gratitude. Nothing else. Cringing!
Learn to show appreciation and acknowledge people when they go out of their way to gift you items and money. Be grateful and show it.
When next anybody counts gifted money in my presence again, I'll calmly collect it back.
