Obverse
The panda mother with her cub is a very touching scene. The details of the pandas are amazing. You can spot every hair, and the pandas look very lifelike. Even the mountain range in the background sets the mood perfectly. The coin is a nice window into the world of the pandas. But wait a second, you might say, what’s this metric magic at the top? Why doesn’t this coin use troy ounces like every other coin out there? That’s because the Chinese government introduced some laws in 2016 which forced the mint to change to the metric system.original size
Reverse
The Temple of Heaven is a stark contrast to the panda themed front. It’s a very clean design with a beautiful mirror finish in the background. Conclusion
One thing is certain; the Chinese panda series is very well executed. Each year the Chinese mint releases more interesting designs, and I hope they won’t stop anytime soon. Do you own some pandas yourself? Maybe even pre-metric pandas? The cute pandas really make Elly want to cuddle as well.
