Do you really understand what Life is about?
Do you know that everything in life will come to an end one day?
Do you also know that your life here on earth will be over someday
Do you ever think about these realities?
Do you ever think what will become of you when your life is over?
Many scholars and philosophers have sought to find the essence of man's pursuits in life- his pursuit of love, wealth, fame, morality, pleasure, peace, happiness and others. What they've discovered is that whatever a man possesses or accomplishes ceases to exist the day he dies. This echors what the wise preacher said in the book of Ecclesiastes:
I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
-Ecclesiastes 1:14
Chapter 2 verse 17 of the same book goes on to say;
Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
Ecclesiastes 2:17
Theres an emptiness in man that nothing but God can fill. This is the reason he is never satisfied with whatever he has or has accomplished. He labours rigorously everyday to accomplish more to fill thst void but the truth is no level of accomplishment or amount of possession can fill that void.
Man can only have perfect happiness and fulfilment on the other side of eternity; that is, his next life when the present one terminates. Yes, the human life goes beyond mortal existence. When life here on earth is over, "man goeth to his long home"
Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:
-Ecclesiastes 12:5
Here he will live forever because he was created an immortal soul. Howbeit, he'll spend eternity in one of two places, Heaven or hell. Heaven is sheer bliss and only those who repent of their sins and surrender their lives to Jesus will live there. They are the ones who would have true complete happiness. The rest of humanity will be dammed in hell, a place of torment.
Life on earth is just a dress rehearsal for the life to come.The question is, how is your rehearsal going? Are you preparing for eternal bliss or eternal damnation? For no one live forever here on earth.
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
-James 4:14
When life is over, your family,friends,foes,fears and fortunes will all fade into insignificance. When life is over, all your tears, trophies, talents, treasures will mean nothing. When life is over only one thing will matter:the life you lived while you were alive, did you live to please God or to live in pleasure? Did you live a righteous or a riotous one? The way you live your life now determines where you'll spend your next life in.
Be wise! Don'tlive life as if you're in control of it or as if you'll never die. Don't seek instant gratification as if there's no tomorrow. Don't work laboriously to attain earthly goals as if that is what life is all about. Jesus said,
And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
-Luke 12:15
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
-Matthew 16:26
Don't tread the path of those who live for the moment till they eventually run out of moments. Return to God and confess all your sins to Him, seeking His forgiveness. Repent from your sinful lifestyle and then and only then can your life have meaning again.
