Real Madrid the most successful club in the European competition got the needed win against Borussia Monchengladbach with a 2-0 win and Karim Benzema getting both goals, in my pre-match analysis I suggested that if Madrid wants to win the match they have to be on their best goal-scoring form which they did.

The Goals would have been more than two with Benzema, Luka Modric, and Lucas Vazquez all struck the woodwork, while Borussia Monchengladbach shot-stopper Yann Sommer made superb saves to deny Sergio Ramos and Toni Kroos to help keep the scoreline down.

Real Madrid progressed through a 29th consecutive Champions League group stage, with Monchengladbach also advancing after Inter and Shakhtar Donetsk's goalless draw.
