Isn't always the dream of the father to be able to supply to the child those tools that will enable them to surpass themselves? You are not going to be a failure in this respect, so she might surpass you sooner than you would like, but you are giving her the tools she will need to grow into herself.

I think chess at 5 is a great idea. I remember well the days of horse'ies and castle and kings and queens, chess was much more fun and colorful than checkers. Risk, that was always a favorite of mine board game wise, problem was I was pretty lucky with the dice rolls and it got to where no one wanted to play. I guess that is why I like and still like playing Sid Meier's Civilization game.
