After retirement my wife and I decided to move back to where we both grew up, California. There were a lot of reason to make the move. The primary one being we simply did not like the cold that much. We lasted just under 3 years down there, and moved back to Alaska.
I left California at 18, at various times in my life I thought of trying to move back there prior to retiring. I don't think I have found where I want to be yet in this life, but where I am at now is pretty good.
We have had pretty much the reversal of your summer, we had about two weeks of nice sunny days, but the vast majority of summer so far for us has been thick overcast and rain. At least we are having a safe fire season due to the rain.
I think the changing plans and things that interfere with plans are what really make life interesting. Just imagine how boring life would be if every plan went off with out a hitch.
