Gabapentin did that to me when I had to take it for several months. I lost myself a little bit, and like your wife, mine no longer knew or could see who I was or what I had become. it took me about 6 months after stopping it to get two feet back on the ground so to speak, or was a very dark year for myself and my wife. I hope the PT helps you and you do not take as long for the healing process to get a little bit of a foot hold on the situation. I know your issue was caused by physical damage from a stroke, there is a difference than a drug induced brain failure, I really hope that recovery to 100% is possible for you. Pain is much much easier to deal with than the loss of thought function.
