I don't have kids, but I was one. Even as a kid I loved to tinker and explore. I often wonder who are the happiest in their jobs, The specialist or the JOAT, (Jack/Jill of all trades). I tried a lot of different things, I think that is also what my parents wanted for us, to be explorers, in all things, mind and body. I think that is the biggest gift my parents gave me. A few of my friends had specific dreams, race car driver, dirt bike racer, Olympic swimmer, but their areas of interest were self imposed and limiting, all they did was focus on a single goal. In a lot of respects that is good, but I enjoyed my life trying tasting testing a lot of different challenges.

I imagine in today's age it is hard to give kids free reign at times, there was less to worry about as I was growing up than there is now. I really can not imagine any parent letting their kid ride a bike fifteen miles to go fishing at the lake, alone.
