There are treatments being worked on for type 2 diabetes, Ultrasound therapy, and even an oral insulin being developed.

I have type2 diabetes, and have to use insulin. The shots with the pen system is not bad at all, a lot less painful than the finger prick for a blood drop. I have to use two different insulin's, a long lasting in the morning then the rapid acting kind.

Instead of using the blood drop for keeping my eye on my sugar numbers, I am using the freestyle 14 day monitor. One semi short painful stab every two weeks, and then just an occasional blood prick check when the meter says there is a question about the reading. Those generally pop up only on the first day.

I like being able to check myself whenever I feel like by simply holding my phone to the sensor. I think it has helped me a lot. At one point my A1C was over 17, and my last check was 8/28 and I was down at 6.7, so doing good on that count.

I use to use that metformin pill but I had some issues with using it, so I had to stop, and now I just do the insulin.

I think the medicine you mentioned is available here in the states also, but like you said, not an easy thing to get to use it for what it was designed. You might need to find a really big friend to get it for you. ;-).

The hospitals here are pretty expensive, but they also are pretty generous when it comes to helping people with payment plans or even straight out hospital debt forgiveness. I don't know many people that can afford $500,000 dollar hospital bills, insurance covered most of my stays but a lot was still left owing, the hospital I go to is a very forgiving one, for which I am truly grateful since I will be needing to have a surgery on, of all days, Halloween.

Medication and treatment options are always improving and changing, sometime it is hard to keep track of it all, but from the little I read, that Ultrasound therapy sounded pretty promising, as in maybe a cure for type 2 diabetes. I am still hopeful for a cure one day.
