Actually a pretty easy one for me. 2001!!! I survived 2000, against a heck of a lot of odds stacked against me. I had not one but four Doctors tell me to make sure I had my paper work in order, (for dying). In 1997 I went from 220 pounds to 160 pounds in a two and a half month period. I continued to lose weight and by the end of the weight loss was down at 150 pounds in 1998.
With the help of my future wife, we arrested the weight free-fall. Still could not put weight back on but was at least not losing more. In 2001 I consider that the first year of survival as a walking dead man. It is not fun to hear doctors tell you "sorry there is nothing we can do, and we don't know why". So they labeled it as IBS. Then a few other names.
It was a very slow process but we finally managed to get my weight back up 180 pounds. It took ten years to put 30 more pounds back on. After reaching the 180 goal it was time to let some of that go and settle in at about 174 pounds and that has been my weight since 2012.
So for me the most memorable year was the year I survived. 2001.
