A Friday Mountain Monday Drive
Friday was a pretty nice day, so we went out for a drive and some photo taking. It started out nice and sunny, then we were under some overcast skies for a little bit, then in to a scattered sunlight area. We decided to head into the mountains to Cooper Landing and a light meal at the Sunrise Inn. One of the nice things about Sunrise Inn is you have a good view of the mountains.
Still sunny where we pulled over to get this shot, but as you can see looking ahead it seems to be pretty overcast, still were were not going to let a few clouds get in our way of having a nice drive. The snow is pretty much gone from along the road side areas, back in the trees and back home though still a bit of snow left.
The total overcast skies did not last very long at all. This is a drive by shot of the Kenai River and a mountain. Not very many pullouts along the road here but a couple and a couple of camping areas also. Right now the camping areas are still closed. The couple of pullouts offer steep trails to the river.
Destination Mountain View
We made it to the Sunrise Inn. This mountain is pretty much right across the street. I am not sure of the name of the mountain, but one of the reason I wanted to go was to see if the sheep were out and about yet on the mountain. They were.
Even with my tripod and hands free clicker, and 300mm zoom, the distance was still pretty far away, and they are difficult to see, even in the "Big Picture" link. I tried using Lunapic to make a few frame animation to show that they are there.
I know not that great of a quality of an animated gif, but it does show that some of the blobs do move. Okay one more slighty zoomed in slightly blurry picture of the sheep.
All the pictures were taken by me with my Nikon Camera on 4-4-2019
#mountainmonday is a tag that was brought to us by @keithboone, to see more cool mountains, his blog would be a good place to start.
