A Scattering of Images, From a Saturday Drive
First stop north bound, Stormy Lake.
Still winter, in the towns the snow is pretty much going away except where it was piled. Still a lot on the ground, more than i would have thought up north, but it has only been warm for a few days yet.
Next stop was up at Captain Cook Park, there was one unhappy trailer camper that evidently had a problem with a pump, and they felt the others in the camp picnic area should know as they were talking rather loudly to each other.
Here is a somewhat unhappy tree gnome, from the discussion or the fact he can not see what is framed by the fork in the tree he lives on.
I would think he is sad to not be able to see the trees because of the location he lives.
Here is the view he is missing, it is so close just around the corner, and still he can not see. I am sure he is tired of all the people taking pictures between the fork of his home. (I need to learn about focus stacking so I can have the tree bark in focus also).
I had a few more pictures from Captain Cook Park, but they will reside on my computer for now.
So heading back south we stopped at one of the other roadside lakes, I have no clue the name of this small lake, but here is a two shot pano of it.
We have a lot of lakes and ponds in Alaska.
Time for some beach views.

I am pretty sure you will see a few more pictures of these and maybe some new ones. They are pretty photogenic.
So onward and southward we continue to travel next stop and last is the Salamatof Beach.
The beach is always changing, there was not much of a parking area yet, winter storms do have a way of changing the beach some. When first arriving one sees the long stretch out piers, three of them. It has bee several years since we walked to the last pier on an agate hunt.

Along with agate hunting people do come down here to fish.
Long line fishing is a pretty limited season on this beach. Soon the set netters will be out and the long line fishermen will need to find other places to fish. The second and third piers in the background.
Snow almost gone but not quite. One last hanger on of winter.
The beach has a lot of rocks and when the sun angle is just right it is pretty easy to find agates. We did not find any on this outing but this outing was more about getting some pictures and getting out of the house for more than just a grocery run.

It was a pretty nice day for a drive, not a lot of traffic on the road yet, but more people out and about enjoying the beaches and outdoors than I had expected. It was the first really nice weekend so I guess a lot of others thought best get out and enjoy while we can. 40-50 degrees F and lots of sun and very very little wind, just a very satisfying Saturday for everyone.
