Since childhood, I was surrounded by many books that are associated with Greek culture. These are the myths of Greece, this is the Iliad of Homer.
Aesop, his sharp mind! Remember his response to the offer to drink the sea? He agreed, with one reservation, to block all the tributaries of the rivers.
Since I was fond of sculpture, Greek statues did not bypass me.
Then I was fascinated by the life story of Henry Schliemann, his search for lost Troy. He lost his sight, but he found what he was looking for.
The first Olympic Games, marathon distance, I began to run a lot and long. Health to me it is not added, but, I, sometimes, had something to brag about.
Greek cuisine, it is special.
Demis Roussos, remember his voice? That's cool!
All this was associated with the music of Sirtaki. I do not know why, but when I remember Greece, I immediately remember this music.
I thought this music was ancient, very ancient. But, I was not disappointed when I found out that this music was written only in 1964. It was created after they came up with the eponymous dance for the film Zorba The Greek.
This dance and music became a symbol of Greece. I believe that it is deserved. In this music there is something that is much older and wiser than the time when it was written.
I was not surprised when my son wanted to learn this melody. She is very difficult to play guitar, but, he coped. This is an old video. I did not have enough skills for playing my son, but he tried very hard.
