There was a time when the high quality of building materials and high qualifications of stone-makers, it was an axiom, not a theorem, which had to be proved.
Some architectural masterpieces of those years, today, look dull and they are hidden behind high-rise buildings, but sometimes, by chance, you can find such a masterpiece.
Yes, I must add that you need to try very hard to see the masterpiece where it is, very few people see it.
For me, any shed that has stood for a hundred years and continues to serve people is something for which you can spend a few minutes, or hours of your time.
Today, I want to present to you an old, residential building, which huddles on the outskirts of the quarters of the city of Rivne, Ukraine, in its very heart, in the center of the city.
This house is not visible from the street, the view is obscured by other houses and, only by chance, helped me find it.
My daughter and I came out of the polyclinic and I saw this cross in a crack on the edge of a multi-storey building.
I got curious and came closer.
I saw an old, brick, two-story, residential building, to which there were many small outbuildings, including this small prayer service, apparently, a priest lived here, or lived, who decided to equip himself a place for prayer.
This small element caught my attention and decided to walk around the house.
You can already see the skill of the stone makers who laid out the brick walls.
Here, everything is wonderful!
Roofs along the roof, arched vaults of windows and embossed masonry of the corners of the house.
Laying the corner of a baking house has always been considered the most responsible and difficult task, because builders need to observe the vertical and diagonal of the house.
Take a closer look at this work of a bricklayer.
This is an accidental find and I can only make some assumptions about the age of this house.
Many houses in this area were built in the twenties and thirties of the last century, this house stood for about a hundred years.
It is sad to see the crack that split the house in half, but you can figure out the reasons for such damage.
A deep crack extends from the roof to the foundation of the house.
The reason for this, I think, is obvious. When this house was being built, the builders and the architect could not have imagined that multi-storey monsters would grow up next to this house.
The pile-driving machines did their dirty work. The ground became mobile, the pressure of constant vibrations was exerted on the house and it could not stand it.
But, it is not a fact that this house will be demolished earlier than this skyscraper.
The architect who designed this house wanted the tenants who settled in it to fall in love with this house.
High ceilings, about four meters in height, created a unique feeling of endless space.
Tall windows gave the residents a lot of light.
This house could be called a family nest.
It is sad to look at how our world works and the arrangement of priorities. There was a time...
