It's not a biblical term. God never promises us happiness. Jesus told us we would have trouble and face persecution.
I'm 60. I was saved at 21. I've been a mature Christian for 20 years or more. My life hasn't been that happy. My first wife died at the age of 30 and our two children were stillborn. I remarried two years later but my life has still remained difficult in some ways that have never gotten better.
God's greatest desire is for our to be more like Jesus. That happens through trials and troubles. It doesn't happen by getting everything that you want in life.
There's really nothing permanent in this life except for God. Your grandparents and parents will die. Sometimes your child will die. Or you'll have family members that will abandon you. Half of Christians will experience the death of a spouse.
Even your pets die. My favorite cat that I ever had died this summer. He was only 10 years old and I only had him for 2 years. It was really hard when he died. Because at first he was really sick and I thought he'd die. Then he started getting better. And I was so happy that he was going to live. Then he had a massive stroke and had to be put down. It's still hard to think about sometimes and it's been two months.
I love God. I trust God. I just don't have a lot of confidence that good things will happen to me or that I'll be happy with where God leads me.
