Holi celebrates the arrival of spring and the end of winter, the blossoming of love. Festival started in temples, and it spread around many cities of India, during spring equinox, for two days.
People use colors to paint other faces, repeating "Radha Radha!".
Legend talks about Krishna, who was extremely jealous of his companion Radha, because of the whiteness of her face. One day he complained to his mother Yashoda, who told him to colour Radha’s face. Krishna took the advice and coloured Radha’s face, so that they both appeared the same, giving birth to a celebration for ages. So painting the face of other people symbolize loving, friendship and taking care of each others and for two days people meet others, play, laugh, forget, forgive, and repair broken relationships.
During the evening and at night, people made fires in the city streets and along rivers, to celebrate the rebirth of life after the winter.
