In august 2011 we climbed Becca d'Oren, a beautiful mountain in Valpelline (Aosta Valley, Italy/Swisse).
We slept in Nacamuli refugee and we arrived to the summit the day after, passing through a long glacier (not in good condition because of high temperature).
Here two friends approaching the summit.
This mountain seems to be a Egyptian pyramid covered by ice and snow.
Someone asked me the sense of alpinism, and I don't know it exactly. I think alpinism is apparently useless, but it makes sense the inner feeling: all energy and strengthness are towards a target, and you find an energy you couldn't imagine to have. I think alpinism is how life should be: it is like a trial, and the strength you discover here, should be used in every day life, to reach your dreams, step by step, with your forces and also with the help of people linked to you with the rope. In high mountain you experience the real person you are.
We started at Place Moulin, walking towards Nacamuli/Collon refugee, crossing river, leaving behind us the last trees of the forest, together with the comfortable world we are used to live.
Here Nacamuli refugee, when I met a dear friend of mine, an alpine guide.
The day after we started early in the morning, crossing the glacier from Collon pass:
The last slope:
And finally the summit!
Here we met two friends, who planned to continue the climbing walking through a delicate ridge, getting back to the refugee by another way. I appreciate in them the love and the deep knowledge of mountains world:
Here the landscape, a bit cloudy (we worried about a thunderstorm, but we were lucky):
Here the way back. Snow wasn't freezed, so we sank into it, and we were a little worried about falling in a crevasse... But luckly return has been good!
Becca d'Oren seems to be the tail of Moby Dick, it appeared so white and bright between the huge 'glacier ocean':
