Hey man, yep - Male in this particular life :).
Sorry no photos of the time I was there - the mid-90s - but a satellite image tells the story of the Green. I was teaching in a village near Zagazig.
And here's the continent as a whole:
I did post the story of my travels - basically I transcribed my diaries - down the Nile and back to Europe through the Sinai, Jordan & Lebanon. None of my own photos again coz I just didn't do that kind of recording at the time, but those I 'borrowed' do give an idea of the general layout.
Many thanks for the interest 🙏
Re. the Bandaid song: I kinda take @mineopoly's point that it was a different 'age' with a different perspective back then and this ought to be taken into a/c (altho' they kept playing it on the radio in Dec 21 amd prob. will until humanity's been either wiped out, or else has 'crossed over' some other way lol). The music of the 80's (which I love btw coz it was what I was exposed to as a teen, growing up in India) is awash with similarly-toned songs of optimism and good cheer which now seem to have utterly fake notes which I never noticed back then.
