Ask me - why is the groove Winter? I will answer you without batting an eye - because it flows under the Winter Palace. Why the palace is Winter...maybe it was intended for winter living...here I blink often, any answer may not be accurate.
But we are interested in purely visual, but historical history. We will stand at the beginning of this channel on the Moika River and slowly walk towards the Neva River enjoying what we have seen.
The sun was already setting and the narrow streets and canals were in shadow. I'll give you some lighter takes so you can consider some details...if you want to.
As we approach the Neva, the light becomes more. You can see two bridges. One bridge is stretched as usual across the canal. It is for cars and pedestrians.
The second bridge is a transition from one building of the Winter Palace to another. It offers stunning views, but now you can't get there, the palace is already closed to the public. But we can go down closer to the water.
This is the bridge on Millionnaya Street...agree, a good name.
We are getting closer to the Neva and it is getting brighter. More people appear.
And finally we are almost under that unusual bridge.
