It all started with this innocent hotel by the road. I deliberately removed the paints, because they are not needed for the further history. Actually, there were almost none.
All subsequent photographs were taken through the windshield of the car without sight in the viewfinder. In cowboy films, heroes often shoot without aiming at full gallop ... and still hit the target.I shot about the same. Having made a short shutter speed and more or less choosing the aperture to it, I simply pointed the camera with one hand and pressed the shutter release. With my other hand, I steered. The wife sometimes cursed, but still endured. So we drove home to St. Petersburg from Orsha (Belarus).
Всё началось с этого невинного отеля у дороги. Я специально убрал краски, потому что они не нужны для дальнейшей истории. Собственно, их почти не было.
Все последующие фотографии сделаны через лобовое стекло машины без прицела в видоискатель. В ковбойских фильмах герои часто стреляют не целясь на полном скаку лошади...и при этом попадают в цель. Я стрелял примерно так же. Сделав короткую выдержку и более-менее подобрав к ней диафрагму я просто наводил одной рукой камеру и нажимал на спуск. Другой рукой я рулил. Жена порой ругалась, но всё же терпела. Так мы и ехали домой в Санкт-Петербург из Орши (Беларусь).
The sky fell on the road. The clouds were so thick that it seemed evening had come. And it was during the day.
Небо опустилось на дорогу. Тучи были такими густыми, что казалось наступил вечер. А дело было днём.
The road was long. And the sky was filled with clouds to the brim. These shots are easy to simulate a night scene. It's good that there were few oncoming cars.
Дорога предстояла длинная. А небо было завалено тучами до краёв. Эти кадры легко сделать имитацией ночной съёмки. Хорошо, что было мало встречных машин.
Sometimes the rain stopped. After a few hours of travel, the horizon began to brighten a little.
Иногда дождь прекращался. Через несколько часов пути горизонт начал немного светлеть.
The sun did not appear and the rain did not stop watering the road. But it became somehow brighter and more fun.
Солнце не появилось и дождь не перестал поливать дорогу. Но стало как-то светлее и веселее.
