Digitizing old slides turned out to be fascinating. I have a simple device for digitizing, Chinese and high quality cannot be obtained. But the source material leaves much to be desired. I don't know for sure, but this photo is 20-25 years old.
I didn't have a digital camera then. But there was a Zenit-E SLR film camera and slide film. I was then in Pechora. This is the Pechora Monastery, which is located near Pskov. It was once visited by Tsar Ivan the Terrible and here he cut off the head of the recalcitrant abbot of the monastery. But this is history and no one knows for sure how true it is.
But the monastery itself makes a strong impression. It is indeed an ancient monastery.
I think that these walls have withstood many enemy raids. In those distant times, there were many who wanted to profit at someone else's expense ... however, little has changed since then.
As you can see, the place is hilly. Moreover, these hills are sandy. Later we will go inside one of them.
We were accompanied by the current abbot of the monastery. He turned out to be a young man, which was strange for me. Thanks to him, we climbed one of the hills to the height of the bells.
And at that moment, the bell ringing began... the strikes of a large bell resonated with my body, it seemed that the sound was coming from inside me. I have never experienced anything like it in my life. It was like a cleansing and healing.
I don’t have a lot of photos, it was not very convenient for me to take pictures in such a place. But I still shot something inside and most importantly - in a sandy cave.
Do you see square niches in the sandy walls? Each niche is connected to a small chamber dug into the sand. In each such room there are ... several coffins. Some of them have almost fallen apart over time. Yes, this is how they bury monks, they just put coffins with bodies. There are several corridors with such niches.
The temperature here is always constant, around +5C. There is no putrid smell. Ordinary fresh air. And the sand here is very fine and looks more like dust. If you touch the wall, the sand will remain in your palm for a long time.
The slides were not post-processed. I wanted to keep the spirit of that time.
