You are literally paid to focus on somethings at work? Most times we discover that, it is at that very place where you achieve so little. Well here's the problem: You're in a battle against various distractions at work. And between your buzzing cell phone, your ever-pinging email, not to mention your 10 various social media platforms sending some hot gossip notifications, most of the time you're on the losing side of that battle.

This post is about to help you get your mind and head focused on your task lying ahead.

Be punctual.

First and foremost, it is important for you to know that being on time allows for more time to be productive. Personally I think that when you try to be punctual, you subconsciously train your brain to deliver on your commitments at the smallest level. You will also notice a correlation between the individuals who are always punctual and those who successfully round-up their projects.

Sometimes you discover that you’re never on time, no matter how hard you try, this is because you’re over-committed. When you stick to a schedule will help you scale back and endeavor to only make commitments you know you can uphold and won't chock you up.

Prioritize At All Times.

I know many of us will think this is such an easy thing to do, well it seems so — but to an extent it’s not, i said that because usually there are many variables that define the success of prioritizing.

Productivity doesn't require you to beat time and do everything you have on your list. As a matter of fact, it’s just the opposite; you have to prioritize the things that will get you to your set goal and leave every other things. If something isn’t relevant for you to achieve what you've set your mind to, don’t do it—the pressure is off. That’s one key to prioritization.

So, as you get ready to go about your day, Identify 3-4 things you need to accomplish today that will move you further to your goal. Get them drafted nicely on an index card and keep it in sight. That way, it serves as a constant reminder of what you should focus on, if you don't distract yourself. Next stop we'll see how to take care of distractions.

Eliminate Distractions.

Eliminate distractions! If the bustle and hustle at the office is too loud, I'll advice you to bring headphones to work. Your phones can be a serious distractions. Allow yourself check your email and phone once every 2 hours. You know what they say... out of sight is out of mind.

Also, be aware that laziness can make us do a lot of unimportant tasks. There are days when you might feel busy, but you’re not doing anything meaningful to your goals — that is a counterfeit productivity. If you know this is true in your life, be sure to steer clear.

Choose accuracy over speed anytime.

“Speed impresses, but accuracy kills.”

You can keep throwing several punches after punches, and furiously dishing out kick after kick, but that won't count if it only takes one accurate blow to bring down your opponent.

This also applies to your work. When you’re feeling off and you are not getting any ideas, don't communicate; don’t schedule meetings, send emails, don’t! Don't embark on any job at that moment. Those feelings of stress and anxiety will come through your communication. You can wait until you’re calm, cool, and in order - then communicate. This practice will show credibility, confidence, and will create a well impactful communication.

Organize your workspace.

Yea! This one may seem a little obvious, but come to think of it, how many people actually organize their workspace? You see, productivity thrives in a tidy and clean environment. At the end of the day, organize your stuffs back in its place—that way, you can jump right back from where you left of the previous day. Then lastly.

Relax.

Most like clearing your mind and allowing it rest. When you’re relaxed, not rushed or under pressure, you’ll be able to identify what’s working and what’s not. Our brains don't function as it should when it is super stressed. When you relax, you see with clarity what you should work on and what you need to eliminate.

If it helps with your golf swing, imagine the wonders it'll do for your work ethic. It is essential in gaining focus.
