The house was so empty and still. Cold even. I knew I shouldn't miss her but I did. Even after all this time.

Wounds heal with time they say. It didn't feel like it.

I teased open my wallet and took out an old well-thumbed photograph.

'My love.'

I whispered, a tear coursing down my cheek.

It seemed like only this morning she had left for work.

My thoughts were jarred by keys rattling in the front door. I stood in alarm.

My wife entered the lounge.

'Hi honey. What a day I have had! You miss me?'

I rose, wiping my tear away.

'Yes, my love. More than you could know.'
