Having been built in the early 1960's the Sibley, Missouri power plant has supplied power to thousands of residents in Jackson County. Because of ever expanding EPA regulations it is now scheduled to cease burning coal by December 31st of 2019. This power plant is seated along the Missouri River on the east Side of town. With the number of coal plants being reduced, the price of electricity will continue to rise as plants are taken offline or transformed to produce "clean" energy.
