After a few days of rain, floods and landslides, today we started a sunny and beautiful day, as if nothing had happened. I'm talking about Izmir, the gloomy weather has completely disappeared. We do not know what will happen in the evening. Like human psychology, the weather, which has ebbs and flows, must be affecting my psychology, so I feel very peaceful today. Moreover, my stomach is still hungry. 😂 Today, I found the strength to start preparing my post about the theatre play, which I could not afford to prepare for a long time, before breakfast.
The reason why I came to the conclusion that the sharing will be long is the novel Tutunamayanlar, which is the subject of the theatre play. Written by Oğuz ATAY, Tutunamayanlar is a very long novel. Many people who bought this book to read this book, seeing that the book is the size of a thick wall brick, as I delayed making this post, before starting to read the book, while waiting to provide the necessary motivation, hosted the book like a cheeky tenant in their bookshelves. Although this situation started in the same way for me, it changed one day when I started reading the book, just like the day I started preparing this post.
When I finished reading the book, I felt as if I had been relieved of a great burden and had finished a meal I loved very much before I was full. However, after a while, I thought, what's the harm in eating two plates of the same meal, so I read it again. When I saw that the novel was being staged as a theatre play recently, after 2-3 years, I immediately bought a ticket. Since the play was at the Nazım Hikmet Cultural Centre, where I had been to see a play before, I did not hesitate at all.
Nazım Hikme Cultural Centre is located at the entrance of Kemeraltı Bazaar, which is also the most central place of Konak District, the most central place of Izmir. It seems to be hidden in an inn among the businesses lined up on this usually crowded entrance street. In fact, when I first went there, I couldn't find it after passing by it 3 times while I was looking for it. 😂
Nazım Hikmet Cultural Centre is on the top floor after you enter the business centre. The Cultural Centre has two floors and on the first floor there is a cafeteria. This cafeteria is kind of like a bar. Since we went 10-15 minutes early for the play, after looking around for a few minutes to find a place where we could stand among the crowd, we found what we were looking for and waited. All the tables in the cafeteria were full. I thought that the people sitting here were "unstuck" people who drank a few beers while waiting for the play to start. However, I couldn't reach such a conclusion about myself. Because, in my eyes, it was difficult, even impossible for me to reach the level of unstuck people.
On the second floor, firstly, there are the toilets, which I think are the most important in all venues and places I go to. 😂 Apart from that, I think there are the hall doors, which are the upper entrance doors of the stage, and the writings and decorations on the walls. Anyway, the hall is full of decorations and references to art -except for the bar and toilet-.
The play is one act. It lasted about an hour and a half. It was a one-man play. The only actor on the stage took a few people from the volunteer audience and guided the volunteers when needed during the play. Other than that, the volunteers generally sat on the chairs on the stage.
As I said at the beginning, this book is very long. Even just reading it aloud, with gestures and tone of voice - in other words, in the form of a radio theatre - would take more than an hour and a half. Therefore, in the play, the important and memorable parts of the book, the parts that would complete the flow, were enacted by the actors. The songs in the book were interspersed with musical accompaniment at every scene transition.
I liked the play very much. While I was watching it, I was very tired and entertained by going through the pages of the book again and remembering the parts of the book that were mentioned in the play on the stage. However, if it had been much longer since I read the book or if I had not read it twice, the play would have been boring for me. Therefore, my advice is to go to this play if you still remember the book. Because I think that those who go as someone who is far away from the content of the book will be bored. I even saw a few people who left the theatre early.

Birkaç gündür yağan yağmur ve oluşan sel, heyelan olaylarından sonra, bugün, sanki hiçbir şey olmamış gibi, güneşli ve güzel bir güne başladık. İzmir’den bahsediyorum. Kasvetli hava, tamamen ortadan kalktı. Akşama ne olur bilinmez. İnsan psikolojisi gibi, gel-gitleri olan hava durumu, benim de psikolojimi etkiliyor olsa gerek ki, bugün, çok huzurlu hissediyorum. Üstelik karnım henüz aç. 😂 Bugün, uzun süredir, paylaşımı hazırlamayı göze alamadığım, tiyatro oyunu ile ilgili paylaşımıma, kahvaltıdan önce hazırlamaya başlayacak dirayeti kendimde buldum.
Paylaşımın uzun olacağı kanaatine varma sebebim, Tiyatro oyununun konusu olan, Tutunamayanlar romanı. Oğuz ATAY’ın yazdığı, Tutunamayanlar, çok uzun bir roman. Bu kitabı okumak için alan birçok kişi, kitabın, kalın bir duvar tuğlası büyüklüğünde olduğunu görüp, benim bu paylaşımı yapmayı geciktirdiğim gibi, kitabı okumaya başlamadan önce, gerekli motivasyonu sağlamayı beklerken, kitabı, kitaplıklarında arsız bir kiracı gibi ağırlamıştır. Bu durum benim için de bu şekilde başlasa da, tıpkı, bu paylaşımı da hazırlamaya başladığı günkü gibi bir gün, kitabı okumaya başlamamla değişti.
Kitabı okuyup bitirdiğimde, hem büyük bir yükten kurtulmuş, hem de çok sevdiğim bir yemeği, daha doymadan bitirmiş gibi hissettim. Fakat, bir süre sonra, aynı yemekten, iki tabak yemenin ne zararı var, diye düşünüp tekrar okudum. Bunun üzerinden geçen 2-3 sene üzerine, geçenlerde, romanın, bir tiyatro oyunu olarak, sahnelendiğini gördüğümde ise hemen bilet aldım. Oyun, daha önce de bir oyun izlemek için gittiğim, Nazım Hikmet Kültür Merkezi’nde olduğu için, hiç tereddüt etmedim.
Nazım Hikme Kültür Merkezi, İzmir’in en merkezi yeri olan Konak Ilçesi’nin, gene en merkezi yeri olan, Kemeraltı Çarşısı girişinde. Genelde, kalabalık olan bu giriş caddesine sıralanmış, iş yerleri arasındaki, bir Han’ın içerisinde, gizlenmiş gibi. Hatta, ben ilk gittiğimde, burayı ararken 3 kez önünden geçip bulamamıştım. 😂
Nazım Hikmet Kültür Merkezi, iş hanına girdikten sonra, üst katta. İki katlı olan Kültür Merkezi’nin, ilk katında, bir kafeterya var. Bu Kafeterya bir tür Bar gibi. Oyun için 10-15 dk erken gittiğimiz için, bir süre, buradaki kalabalığın arasında, ayakta durabileceğimiz, bir yer bulmak için birkaç dakika bakındıktan sonra, aradığımızı bulup bekledik. Kafeteryadaki, bütün masalar doluydu. Burada, oturanların, oyunun başlamasını beklerken, birkaç bira içen, “tutunamayan” insanlar olduğunu düşündüm. Fakat, kendimle ilgili, böyle bir kanıya ulaşamadım. Çünkü, benim gözümde, tutunamayanlar mertebesine ulaşmak, zor, hatta kendi adıma, imkansızdı.
İkinci katta, öncelikle, benim bütün mekanlarda ve gittiğim yerlerde, en önemli olduklarını düşündüğü tuvaletler var. 😂 Bunun dışında, sanırım, sahnenin, üst giriş kapıları olan salon kapıları ve duvarlarda bulunan yazı ile süslemeler mevcut. Zaten, salon tamamen -Bar ve tuvalet hariç- sanatla ilgili süslemeler ve atıflarla dolu.
Oyun tek perde. Yaklaşık bir buçuk saat sürdü. Bu, tek kişilik bir oyun. Sahnedeki, tek oyuncu, gönüllü seyircilerden, birkaç kişi alıp, sahnelediği oyun esnasında, ihtiyaç olduğunda, gönüllüleri yönlendirdi. Gönüllüler, bunun dışında, genelde sahnedeki sandalyelerde oturdular.
Başta da söylediğim gibi, bu kitap çok uzun. Sadece sesli bir şekilde, mimiklerle ve ses tonu oynamalarıyla -yani radyo tiyatrosu şeklinde- okumak bile, bir buçuk saatten uzun sürer. Onun için, oyunda, kitabın önemli ve hatırda kalacak kısımlarından, akışı tamamlayacak kısımlar, oyuncu tarafından, canlandırıldı. Kitabın içerisinde de geçen, şarkılar kısmındaki şarkılar, her sahne geçişinde, müzik eşliğinde aralara serpiştirildi.
Ben oyunu çok beğendim. İzlerken, kitabın sayfa aralarında tekrar gezinip, kitabın, sahnedeki oyunda geçilen bölümlerini de hatırlamak, beni baya yordu ve eğlendirdi. Fakat, şayet kitabı okumamın üzerinden çok daha uzun süre geçmiş olsa veya iki kez okumamış olsam, oyun benim için sıkıcı geçebilirdi. Onun için tavsiyem, bu oyuna, kitabı hala hatırlıyorsanız gitmeniz. Çünkü, kitap içeriğinden, çok uzakta birisi olarak gidenlerin sıkılacağını düşünüyorum. Hatta salondan, erken ayrılan, birkaç kişi gördüm.
