It is also the day when those like me, who start the day early, catch the empty streets, empty roads, and this beautiful emptiness because the weather is nice. Sunday silence. Today, on one such Sunday, I will tell you about the kebab shop I went to with my friend Mev.
Tavacis are famous. Famous and expensive. I used to see them mostly in Ankara. There are some in Izmir too. Since I don't have much expectations from food, I don't know much about such places. But Mev is a gourmet. He knows very well where to eat, what to eat, what kind of food to eat. He spares no money in this regard.
Tavacı Abdullah's place is in Bayraklı. It is in the area where there are plazas built in huge buildings. The customer portfolio is white collars. People like me probably go there sometimes, because I didn't see any disrespect or surprise from the staff. When I saw the price written on the menu I was looking at with uneasiness, my uneasiness passed. 😂 I don't want to know the price in advance, these surprises can be unpleasant.
I ordered liver. Usually, if there is liver among the options, I choose it. Anyway, our villagers are also called liver sellers. I couldn't remember whether I told this story or not, but I'll tell you later why and how we became liver shops. Mev preferred Adana kebab. I mean, we went to a frying pan place but we didn't order a frying pan. 😂
In fact, the speciality of this place is the kind of food they call Tava, which I only know the example of hair pan. Which is also one of my favourites. Besides, the appetisers that come with the meal are also many and good. Thus, their whole menu is satisfying. It was a satisfying and delicious menu for me too.
The tea service at the end of the meal was really impressive. Tea comes in a small silver teapot with a burning stove underneath. So you can drink 2-3 cups of hot tea per person. Moreover, the tea was good. Although I thought the price would be high, I didn't think so at the end of the meal. They deserve every cent I paid. I wish everyone happiness...

Selam millet! Bugün Pazar. Haftaiçi çalışıp, dün gece deliler gibi eğlenenlerin dinlenme günü. Benim gibi, güne erken başlayanların, boş sokakları, boş yolları, üstelik hava da güzel olduğu için bu güzel boşluğu yakaladığı gün aynı zamanda. Pazar sessizliği. Bugün, gene böyle bir Pazar günü, arkadaşım Mev ile gittiğimiz tavacıyı anlatacağım.
Tavacılar meşhurdur. Meşhur ve pahalı. Ben daha çok Ankara’da görüyordum bunları. İzmir’de de varmış. Benim yemekten çok bir beklentim olmadığı için bu tarz yerleri pek bilmiyorum. Ama Mev bir gurme. Yemek konusunda, nerede ne yenir, nerenin yemeği nasıldır bunları çok iyi bilir. Bu konuda paraya hiç acımaz.
Tavacı Abdullah’ın yeri Bayraklı’da. Kocaman binalara kurulmuş, plazaların olduğu bölgede. Müşteri portföyü beyaz yakalılar. Arada benim gibi tipler de gidiyo muhtemelen, çünkü çalışanlarda ne bir saygısızlık ne de şaşkınlık gördüm. Tedirginlikle baktığım Menü’de fiyat yazdığını görmemle birlikte, tedirginliğim geçti. 😂 Fiyatı önceden bilmemek istemiyorum. Bu süprizler hoş olmayabiliyor.
Ben ciğer söyledim. Genelde, seçenekler arasında, ciğer varsa, onu seçerim çünkü. Zaten bizim köylülere de ciğerciler derler. Ben bu hikayeyi anlatıp anlatmadığımı hatırlayamadım ama daha sonra neden ve nasıl ciğerci olduğumuzu anlatırım. Mev ise Adana kebap tercih etti. Yani, tavacıya gittik ama tava söylemedik. 😂
Aslında buranın olayı Tava dedikleri benim sadece saç tava örneğini bildiğim tarzda yiyecekler. Ki, saç tava da favorilerim arasındadır. Bunun yanında,yemekle birlikte gelen mezeler de çok ve güzel. Böylece, bütün menüleri doyurucu oluyor. Benim için de doyurucu ve lezzetli bir menüydü.
Yemeğin sonunda gelen çay ikramı ise gerçekten etkileyiciydi. Küçük bir gümüş demlikte, altında yanan ocakla birlikte çay geliyor. Böylece sıcak ve kişi başı 2-3 bardak çay içebiliyorsunuz. Üstelik çayları da iyiydi. Fiyatının yüksek olacağını düşünsem de yemeğin sonunda öyle düşünmüyordum. Ödediğim her kuruşu hak ediyorlar. Herkese mutluluklar diliyorum…
