doesn't appear to be fresh blood but where the skin goes down in the wound it appears dried and dark.

What do you mean doesn't appear to be fresh blood?
The wound you'd expect to protrude outwards? What do you mean, as if she wasn't Stabbed? Or as if she wasn't stabbed correctly?
